DoorsV8i MDL Help

Version V8.11.5.17 - April 2009

Description

The DoorsV8i MDL application is a full featured MDL application used to automatically Place Door symbols on 2D Architectural floor plans. Doors may be placed in either Multi-lines Walls or Parallel Wall Lines. Openings are automatically cleaned up. Door types, sizes, swings, headers, and frames are selected from the Tool Settings. A settings dialog is included to customize placement parameters. All door symbols are created as group cells with names (no cell library is required). All symbols meet industry standards. A Place Wall feature is also added.  A toolbox of placement and modification tools is included.

This application provides a simple alternative to using cell libraries to store many variations of door types.

Revisions

May 1998:

    Version 5.7.0

    1. Beta release

Nov 1999:

    Version 7.1.0

    1. Initial public release.

Dec 1999:

    Version 7.1.2

    Enhancements and Fixes:

    1.    Changed location of pulldowns in ToolSettings dialog, so that AccuDraw shortcut (~) can be used to dynamically select swing.

    2.    Eliminated WallWidth field. Instead add new feature to have user select each wall edge, which in turn find minimum distance.  If using a MultiLine for wall, this feature is not invoked.

    3.    Added "Rotate Door" button to allow user to dynamically rotate door if it appears outside of wall.  Optionally the user may reset and choose the other wall edge.  This feature can be easily accessed by using the "ESC" key to set focus to the ToolSettings. and then hit and "enter" key (as this is the default button).  This feature is needed for multiline walls also.

    4.    Include new file "doorstg.ini" file to allow user to select their own Company Standards, when the "Defaults" button is hit in the "Settings" dialogbox.  The location of this file is determined by the path variable defined in the "doors.cfg" file.

    5.    If  frame type "None" is selected, swing types LHR & RHR are disabled.

    6.    Added "doors.cfg" file to set variables.  This file should be placed in the MS/J Appl directory or alternately the variable definitions could be added to the users configuration files.

Jan 2000:

   Version 7.1.3

    Enhancements and Fixes:

    1.    Added a variety of fixes

    2.    Added new Door Icons to Tool Setting for door type selection

    3.    Added support for sliding doors

    4.    Added 45 degree swings & 180 degree (full) swings

    5.    Added swing weights option to settings dialog

    6.    Added new icon for settings dialog and moved it to toolbox

    7.    Wall Openings can be placed by turning off the "Door:" & "Frame:" toggles in the Settings DialogBox, the user may want to keep the "Header:" toggle on.

Feb 2000:

   Version 7.1.4

    Enhancements, Fixes, & known problems:

    1.    Added new "Delete Door" tool to toolbox, this new will delete our door cell and heal the wall opening.  It includes support for healing up to 16 parallel wall lines, and multi-line wall openings.   Occasionally some wall lines may not be redrawn correctly, or may be missing, especially when when wall lines are 'linestrings' or lines are on certain angles.  Hopefully this will be debugged in future versions.  User should be able to "undo" any errors.

    2.    Added new "Place Wall" tool to toolbox.  Licensed version includes a pre-defined walls style file, for use with the MicroStation Settings Manager dialog.  Additionally users may create their own wall style files and configure them as their default in the doors configuration file.   Walls may be placed as multi-lines or as just parallel lines (dropped multi-line).

    3.    Enhanced the default door rotation when a wall line is selected.  This now works most of the time.  There will still be times when the user may need to rotate the door while in drag mode prior to placement.   Since this is still not 100% fool proof, therefore the "ROTATE" pushbutton is still included on the place door ToolSettings.

    4.    The "Place Door" command has been improved to delete up to 16 parallel wall lines within the selected door opening after placement is complete.  This is not 100% assured in every case, but seems to work quite well in this version.

    5.    Added ability to reject first wall line selected when placing a new door (previous version forced snapping).

    6.    Added 'On-Line' help HTML file.

    7.    Added "user-defined" door size option.

May 2000:

   Version 7.1.5

    Enhancements and Fixes:

    1.    Added new "Jamb" symbology options to the Door Settings dialogbox.  If the "Jamb" toggle is ON, then the jamb lines (wall opening lines) will be placed based on the user defined jamb color, weight, and style.  If the "Jamb" toggle is OFF, then the jamb lines (wall opening lines) will be placed using the same color, weight, and style as the selected wall edge line.

    2. Fixed known problem finding default standards file (doorstg.ini).
